About This Workshop
You know those four round black things on your car? Wouldn’t it be great if you could get them to grip the track just a little bit more?
You know the importance of setting your tyre pressures “right” but why does that make such a difference? Why is one setting better than another? You know tyre temperatures affect grip and handling but what can you do about that as a driver? Then, once you have this knowledge how can you use it to consistently get more grip, clear setup direction and faster lap-times?
Often, it can seem like everybody else has their tyres sussed. This Tyres For Racing Drivers workshop, by race engineer and club racer Samir Abid, will give you the confidence to know what to do before you go on track, when you’re driving on track, and what to do afterwards.
Gain proven knowledge, processes and guidance on how to get the most from your tyres - not only applicable at this race track, but at every track.

What You Will Learn
Presented in a modern, practical, hand’s-on format you will learn:
-
How tyres work:
-
how tyres grip the track,
-
what happens to tyre grip in a corner,
-
why tyre pressure and temperature matter for grip,
-
methods to effectively generate heat in your tyres,
-
how your grip changes with heat cycles.
-
-
How to gather and interpret data on your tyres:
-
typical target values for temperature and pressure,
-
2 methods to perfectly set your tyre pressures,
-
how to start taking tyre temperatures,
-
know what your tyre temperatures are telling you,
-
how to use your tyre data to guide your suspension setup.
-
-
Driver techniques:
-
good (and bad) ways to generate heat in your tyres,
-
how your driving controls affect tyre temp,
-
methods to sense how the tyre is performing,

Who Is Your Instructor?
Hi I’m Samir Abid. ? Founder of Your Data Driven, host of the Your Data Driven Podcast, race engineer, driver coach and… long-time 750MC race competitor!
I have 20+ years experience working as an engineer both in elite sports and on road and racing cars. I’ve developed the suspension and vehicle dynamics for brands such as Aston Martin and Multimatic. In sports, I’ve provided performance engineering for Olympic teams, who’ve achieved 41 gold medals, and supported pro teams, such as INEOS on their 1-59 marathon world record.
Today, I work as a motorsports educator. I help drivers understand how to improve their driving - and their cars - so that they can go faster and achieve their goals in motorsport.
In this workshop I will share my experience of how you can get more from the most powerful tuning device on your car - your tyres. Don’t get left behind by drivers who have learned these easy techniques to get more grip..
