Motorsports Data Analysis – Made Easy

Learning motorsports data analysis through trial and error is fine… But ever wondered what insights you might be missing? Turn the data you already collect into accurate, personalised guidance for driving faster.

They say: “Turn 3 is easily flat out”…But you’re not so sure

Vague, bravado filled paddock discussions with other drivers can be fun!

However, they’re often exaggerated, sometimes imagined, and rarely do they give you useful information that is directly applicable for you and your car.

Without question, motorsports data can be a more reliable, trustworthy guide.

But, if you rarely use data systems, rely on self-taught methods, or simply don’t know where to begin – especially when time is tight – your data quickly becomes an expensive, untapped resource you’re not fully exploiting.

What if – by this time next week – you could confidently pinpoint where you’re losing lap time?

Like how to improve under braking, identifying the ideal gear for each corner, and know the best way to apply all your new insights, in your very next track session?

038: Jeremy Sladen - Looking Sideways

“It’s great. I did my first event using data and learnt more about my driving in 3 runs than I’ve learned in 30 odd years.”

Jeremy Sladen – Amateur racecar driver

Ross Bentley on Car Dancing

Amazing course! I’ve been using data for almost as long as data has been around and – I gotta tell you – I learned a ton from this! “

Ross Bentley – Indycar Driver & Speed Secrets Coach

Motorsports data analysis is NOT intuitive (despite what you have been promised…)

You’ve invested hundreds or even thousands in a data system, yet feel left adrift.

Unfortunately, the data companies have long forgotten what it’s like to be in your shoes.

When it comes to extracting value from their system? That burden falls on you.

Perhaps you’re overwhelmed by the complexity of data analysis and put off by the condescending “data geeks”?

Are you tired of aimlessly scrolling through hours of fragmented videos on YouTube and feeling embarrassed to ask “simple” questions in forums?

Do you have experience using data but – because you use it infrequently – you can’t always remember what you should be looking at?

Or…perhaps?… you can’t shake the feeling that you’re just scratching the surface of what your data might reveal about your driving…

And it is a lot!

But – understandably – you may even have considered giving up on data analysis entirely.

At least you get predicted lap times in the car. The investment wasn’t a total waste…Right?

You are not alone.

But what if it didn’t have to be that way for you?

John Norrington quote 3

What if you had good reason to fire up the laptop trackside?

You’re already sitting on a goldmine of information – one that can, without question, give you answers and precise guidance on how to drive your car faster.

What would it mean if you could effectively tap into this personalised data?

Not vague stats, but an individualised record of your skills and areas for improvement. Custom insights about your own performance.

You could confidently understand the nuances of your personal driving style and pinpoint the exact areas to work on.

Becoming even slightly more fluent with data will give you access to a new world of precise, objective measurements, on how to improve your performance.

No more vague paddock discussion with other drivers – but detailed information that is all tailored for you and your car.

Information, by the way, that you already own and collect.

All you have to do know how to look at it.

Data for club racers testimonal G Brown

Imagine you knew how to:

  • Brake better for each corner.
  • Find the fastest racing line.
  • Identify where you are gaining or losing lap time.
  • Choose the best gear at all times.
  • Improve your consistency.
  • Discover where you’re not using all your car’s grip.
  • Prioritise your findings – to not become overwhelmed.
  • And much (much!) more…

And what if, by this time next week, you too were able to interpret the numbers and charts to get you these insights?

What if you too had the skills to best apply the information to rapidly improve your performance on track?

About Samir Abid | Your Data Driven
Samir Abid

Hi there, I’m Samir Abid.

I have over 20 years experience working as an engineer both on road and racing car – for brands such as Aston Martin and Multimatic Motorsports – and in elite sports – for Olympic sports teams and the INEOS 1-59 marathon world record.

I’ve a degree in Automotive Engineering. I’m a Chartered Engineer. I’ve an MBA. I’ve worked for big companies and created my own businesses. I coach racing drivers… and I have successfully competed as a club level racing driver here in the UK – somewhat putting my money where my mouth is when it comes to all this stuff!

During these experiences, I have seen the struggles, frustration and intimidation people have with numbers and motorsports data analysis. Today I’m excited to share my most useful insights, practical tips and tricks when it comes to the fundamentals of doing driver data analysis.

I love helping drivers improve and sincerely hope you find this motorsports data analysis course gives you the confidence to start finding lap time from your data logging investment.

Can’t wait to see what you achieve with this!
